A vacancy currently exists for a Mine Geologist in the Technical Services department. This is a residential role based in Mount Isa on a 5/2, 4/3 week-day roster. Reporting to the Superintendent – Mine Planning and Design, the successful candidate will be part of a team that provides geology input to both geological modelling and mine design. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Underground mapping and inspections and core logging
  • Working closely with your Mine Engineer and Rock Mechanic and provide geology input to mine design for your Ore Body
  • Interact and build strong working relationships with a number of multidisciplinary departments including technical and operational staff
  • Participate in geological project work as required
  • Assisting with geology inputs into resource model creation and mine design as required
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geoscience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a mine geologist role
  • A proactive approach to safety and hazard identification
  • Manual drivers’ license
  • Exposure to diamond drill program design and management is advantageous
  • Exposure to Deswik, Leapfrog or acQuire is highly desirable
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills are essential
