Reporting to the Lead Planning Engineer, the position of Senior Mining Engineer will focus upon the optimisation, planning and design for a broad range of Open Pit projects. As a member of the Nickel West Planning and Technical Team, you will have ample scope to demonstrate your commitment to delivering results whilst working in a safety conscious and collaborative manner. In addition, this highly diverse role will be tasked with providing guidance on long term designs for operations, reviewing site integrated mine plans and schedules and providing exposure to a wide variety of mining methods, throughout the entire mining process from inception to approvals and closure. . As a pivotal member of this small and highly capable team, this key function will work in partnership with other sections of the Planning and Technical Team, ie. Geomechanical, exploration, resource modelling, mineral processing, approvals and site based engineers, in order to achieve positive business outcomes. About You You are an extremely professional and output focused individual with highly developed written and verbal communication skills. You are recognised for your ability to problem solve and achieve results through effective and collaborative Business partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • Significant knowledge of Open pit mining methods and practices
  • Demonstrated experience in Mine planning
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills are essential
  • Mine Design and Scheduling software (Preferably Deswik)
  • The ability to engage with others and influence outcomes will be key to success
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
