Newmont Goldcorp Tanami Operation is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. The site consists of a processing plant, airstrip and village located at The Granites witha fully equipped 800 bed camp offering modern leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin. Exciting ongoing exploration success and expansion projects provide unique and challenging career opportunities, with the underground mine located at Dead Bullock Soak ~40km west of Granites. About The Role: Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Mining Operation teams. This role is fly in / fly out from Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane or Perth on an 8/6, 8/6, 4/3 roster. In This Role You Will:

  • Ensure all safety, production, financial, and environmental targets for the Mining Operations and Asset Management teams are achieved.
  • Actively promote safety and demonstrate a personal commitment to safety with the belief that all accidents are preventable.
  • Set the strategic direction for Mining Operations and Asset Management teams.
  • Instil a workplace culture of continuous improvement striving towards business excellence.
  • Manage maintenance related engineering support for the Operation.
  • Develop personnel within department to their full potential through coaching, training and appraisals.
  • Coordinate the development of budgets and plans for the Life of Mine.
  • Management of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for new projects.
  • Liaise and direct support departments at Tanami and at regional and head office.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of industry innovations and developments to keep the Tanami operations at the forefront of mining practices.
  • Mentor the Mining Superintendents to ensure their continued development.
Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist:
  • B.Sc. or B Eng Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • First Class Mine Managers certificate.
  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in underground operations since graduation.
  • 5 years’ experience in an underground superintendents role
