PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold producer in Laos, with pre-development and exploration assets in Laos, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea (PNG). The Company is focused on a sustainable business model associated with the production and sale of copper and gold, delivery of production goals and growth.

Our Assets

In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in the Lao-registered company, Phu Bia Mining Limited. The Government of Laos owns the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust’s Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation.

In Myanmar, PanAust holds an 80 per cent interest in Wuntho Resources Company Limited (WRCL) and has established a joint venture with Myanmar Energy Resources Group International Company Limited (MERG), a Myanmar-based company which holds the remaining 20 per cent of WRCL. WRCL holds exploration tenements covering roughly 775 square-kilometres in Myanmar's Sagaing region and has applied for additional Exploration Licences in the region.

In PNG, PanAust holds an 80 per cent interest in the Frieda River Copper-Gold Project. Frieda River is one of the largest known undeveloped copper and gold deposits in the world and offers PanAust excellent potential for the establishment of a world-class, long-life operation.

The Role

Based in our James Street corporate office in Brisbane, and reporting to Reporting to the Group Manager - Technical Services within our high performing Technical Services Team, the role will be responsible for management of the Life of Mine Plans, Ore Reserves, Due Diligence of business development opportunities, and operational improvement for the PanAust Group. The scope of work includes managing all aspects of mining engineering for operations, studies and corporate development.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage, deliver and communicate all aspects of the mine planning process for the business.
  • Perform and coordinate activities to support the timely and cost effective delivery of mining-related contributions to operations and studies. A particular focus will be identification and mitigation of risk, evaluation of key value drivers and value maximisation.
  • Plan, budget and implement the mining-related tasks to support scoping, prefeasibility and feasibility study activities in accordance with PanAust’s Project Governance Standard.
  • Scope and coordinate the activities of consultants for external study programs such as geotechnical and groundwater investigation, equipment selection and operating and capital cost estimation.
  • Deliver strategic life of mine plans integrated with mine closure that provide robust guidance to the short and medium term planning.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant tertiary degree qualifications in mining engineering or related discipline.
  • Extensive site-based operational experience in metalliferous open pit and underground mining operations, preferably in tropical conditions.
  • Minimum of 20 years post-graduate industry experience in mine engineering and mine technical services.
  • Demonstrated experience in project valuation studies and operational improvement.
  • User of optimisation and mine planning software (preferably Geovia suite; Whittle, Surpac, MineSched, etc.)
