Reporting to the Head of Technical Services and Innovation, as the Manager Mine Planning you will ensure consistent mining engineering technical standards are developed and implemented across the Group and provide mining engineering technical expertise and advice to support operations, exploration, growth and business development teams.

This opportunity is a permanent role, based in our Perth Corporate Office on a Monday - Friday roster.

The Opportunity

Drive safety leadership through nurturing a safe work culture, ensure conditions for safe work practices and demonstrate visual safety leadership.
Ensure all work delivered by the team complies with relevant Company policy and statutory requirements including health and safety, environment and agreement with landowners/communities.
Develop and maintain Group standards for key mining engineering practices.
Share best practices and drive continuous improvement for mining engineering.
Provide mine engineering support to site General Managers and operational managers as directed.
Review and critique operational mine plans and identify opportunities to improve production by identifying and removing production constraints and waste.
Review annual reserve preparation and manage the consolidation of ore reserve statements.
Guide, support and manage mining engineering design aspects for studies on greenfield and brownfield projects.
Mentor and develop engineering personnel, identify and coordinate their development needs and manage the succession plan for engineers with the site management teams.
Maintain oversight on each assets Life of Province Plan ensuring the pipeline of organic opportunities is being developed and moved through into execution in alignment with corporate strategic objectives.
Keep abreast of new trends and technology in mine engineering to identify new opportunities to implement these into the business.
Provide technical support to the exploration and business development teams.

What we will expect from you

You should feel a strong alignment with St Barbara’s values as you will be required to live them.
You are able to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 12 months) for site access purposes.
You have a current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
Degree qualified in relevant discipline.
At least 15 years of experience in the mining industry with at least 7 years in onsite roles.
A strong demonstrated understanding of open pit and underground mining methods.
Previous experience managing mining engineering teams.
Demonstrated effective time management and prioritising skills, including the ability to make effective decisions.
