Posted: 9th Jan
Monadelphous Group has secured construction and maintenance contracts involving BHP in Western Australia.
The engineering company will construct a reclaimer and two stackers at BHP’s South Flank project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
This contract, which was awarded with thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions, is expected to create around 70 jobs and complete in the first quarter of 2021.
Monadelphous will also provide upgrades to BHP’s existing conveyor equipment, power switching and stackers at Mining Area C iron ore mine site in the Pilbara.
This work is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
During the same period, Monadelphous is set to provide its services to the mining giant at Nelson Point in Port Hedland.
This is associated with the demolition and rehabilitation of end-of-life facilities and expected to commence this month.
Further, BHP has extended its existing contract with Monadelphous for the provision of maintenance, shutdowns and off-site repair services for 12 additional months at Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter.
In Queensland, Monadelphous is contracted to provide general mechanical and maintenance services for three years as part of Incitec Pivot’s scheduled turnarounds for its manufacturing facilities.
These contracts are worth a combined value of around $110 million.
